Long before becoming one of Cambodia\u2019s leading contemporary chefs, Sothea Seng was a young boy cooking for his family on a farm in Kampong Cham.<\/p>\n
Raised in the Cambodian countryside, he grew up surrounded by rice fields, seasonal produce, woodfire cooking, and the everyday rituals of Khmer home kitchens. Those early memories continue to influence the way he cooks today \u2014 thoughtful, ingredient-driven, and deeply personal.<\/p>\n
His culinary career later took him from luxury hotel kitchens in Cambodia to Dubai and the Caribbean, where he refined his technical skills while working across international cuisines. Yet despite years abroad, the desire to return home and explore Cambodian food remained strong.<\/p>\n
After returning to Cambodia, Chef Sothea worked across luxury hospitality projects before opening Mahob Khmer and later creating Lum Orng \u2014 his most personal culinary project to date.<\/p>\n
Today, Lum Orng reflects Chef Sothea\u2019s evolving vision for contemporary Cambodian cuisine. Through seasonal tasting menus, local ingredients, and Chef\u2019s Table experiences, he continues exploring how traditional Khmer flavors can evolve while remaining deeply connected to their origins.<\/p>\n
