ពិសា Pi Sa – Old Market

Chef Sothea Seng, the driving force behind Pi Sa Restaurant, is well-known for his Lum Orng farm-to-table restaurant (listed in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants), and has managed restaurants in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, including Mahob Cuisine, Hotstone, and Beng Mealea Restaurant & Lodge. For his latest venture, he wanted to create a restaurant that embodied his philosophy of sustainability, seasonality, and the preservation of Cambodian culinary traditions, while also innovating in ways that reflect contemporary tastes and preferences.

diningPi Sa – modern fine dining with a respect for traditions

Cambodia’s vibrant food culture is reflected not only in its markets full of locally-grown fresh fruits and vegetables, but also in its language – there are at least a dozen words in Khmer for ‘to eat’. The restaurant’s name – Pi Sa (ពិសា), is a polite version of eat (used for parents and honoured guests), and reflects our respect for culinary traditions.

The newly-opened Pi Sa restaurant is conveniently located right next to the bustling Old Market (Phsar Chas) which is popular with locals and tourists alike due to the huge range of goods and produce on offer. Our culinary team is dedicated to bringing the freshest and choicest ingredients direct from the market to your table every day.

Situated on the first floor of a colonial-era building in the old French Quarter, the restaurant’s décor exudes the elegance and comfort of a fin de siècle bistro – exposed-brick walls, candelabras, mahogany tables, and green velvet banquettes. The perfect venue to relax with friends and family over a stunning meal. Gazing out the restaurant’s windows, guests can enjoy the atmospheric street scenes below as locals sell their produce, adding an authentic flavour to the dining experience.

This restaurant concept aligns wonderfully with the idea of creating a dining experience that celebrates not just the food itself, but also the rich culture, refined etiquette, and enduring values that are inherent in Cambodian culture. This makes each dish a truly memorable occasion for all who wish to try creative Khmer food.

Meet Chef Sothea Seng

For Chef Sothea Seng, cooking begins long before service — in the soil, the markets, and the memories carried through generations of Cambodian home cooking.

His work reflects both discipline and intuition, balancing traditional flavors with modern techniques to create a cuisine that feels personal, rooted, and quietly progressive.
